My 400ECM works correctly in streaming mode, but I am unable to search for modules, or perform a program all. Is the module faulty?

There is a known issue with the 400ECM, where the data mode (i.e. not streaming mode) communications do not work properly when there is pressure on the touch screen. We hope to release a firmware fix for this in the near future. The work-around, is to ensure that there is nothing touching the screen during data mode communications, this may include the clip on bezel, if it doubt remove the bezel. To overcome the issue of the bezel applying pressure to the touch panel a new screen location piece is available part number MC0065-2, contact e-plex for details.

If you continue to experience communications problems when there is nothing touching the screen, contact your dealer.

I have programmed the touch regions, but one or more regions aren't working properly. What am I doing wrong?

The X and Y axes can be inverted in the module calibration program. If these are not set correctly, the touch regions will not behave as expected. When set correctly, pressing in the top left corner will give low readings for both axes, and pressing in the bottom right corner will give high readings for both axes.

Note: In E-Logic releases before V1.10.0, the X and Y axes are incorrectly labelled. In V1.10.0 and later, he axis labelled as X is the horizontal axis, and the axis labelled as Y is the vertical axis.

What do the Voltage C terminal and E-Plex output do?

Due to an error in the hardware design, this terminal does not perform any useful function, and should not be connected. The E-Plex output will always read as zero.

How do I calibrate the touch regions for the 400ECM clock module?

While in the E-Plex Interface, select the clock module in the module selector. Go to the Advanced menu and select Calibrate Moduleā€¦ Some modules have calibration windows in addition to the standard test program. When the given region is pressed while streaming, that number will show up on the Region output of the 400ECM. You can then use a DECODExx object (MATH group) to convert this analog value into a digital signal that can be used more easily in logic.

How do the pins on the clock module (400ECM) work?

The pins on the 400ECM have several different functions. The Night pin will dim both the LCD backlight and the EL backlight. The Alarm pin will cause the buzzer to alarm continuously. The Bklt Off pin will turn off the LCD backlight completely. The Next Pg and Prev Pg buttons will step to the next page and previous page of the LCD layout. While the Status pin is true, the status configuration page will be displayed on the LCD. If the hardware real-time clock is used, the Clock pin should be pulsed about every second to refresh the time on the display. The EL Off pin turns the EL backlight off completely.

On the output side of the module, the VoltageX pins show the current clock module voltage on each of the three V+ inputs on the clock. The Page pin indicates which layout page is currently being displayed on the LCD. The Error pin indicates that the previous stream resulted in a communications data error. The Missing pin indicates that at least one module is currently missing. The Region pin indicates which region is currently being pressed on the touch screen, or zero if no region is being pressed.

Why do the 400ECM clock regions #17 to #20 have names?

These are reserved touch regions that should always be calibrated to correspond with the button labels across the bottom of the LCD screen. (e.g. RST, ALL, STR, PRG when not streaming) These buttons are used both in status mode while streaming and when not streaming to activate the manual programming mode.

How does the hardware realtime clock work on the 400ECM?

The use of the hardware realtime clock on the 400ECM requires two objects. The first one is the HARDWARECLOCK object, which can be found in the group COUNTERS. The output of this object is in minutes since midnight, and should be tied to the input of a CONVERTTIME object (MATH group). The Up & Dn pins on the HARDWARECLOCK object allow you to adjust the time in minutes and seconds. The Hr pin on the CONVERTTIME object will give you the current hour between 1 and 12. The Mn pin will give you the current minute between 0 and 59. The PM pin will be false when its AM and true when its PM. Lastly, the Clock pin on the 400ECM should be pulsed about once a second to refresh the time coming out of the HARDWARECLOCK object.
